Sunset '99 is an energetic pop-rock band from Ticino that blends the infectious energy of '90s with modern, catchy melodies and sounds. Fronted by Alice Petronici (also in Drunky Funky), the band’s current lineup is completed by Gilles Fontana on drums, Leonardo Shine Palestini (Aeternum) on bass, and Christian Martinetti on lead guitar.
Their music channels a unique fusion of pop, rock, and nostalgic vibes, with the main inspiration drawn from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and influences that range from The Beatles, to Amy Winehouse, to Green Day, and to Iron Maiden.
After debuting with UPSDWN in 2022, which introduced their sound, the band released their latest single "Sun" in 2024, marking a new chapter with the current lineup.
Sunset '99 have already brought their show mainly in Switzerland, opening for Hollywood Vampires (Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, and Johnny Depp), Volbeat, and Airbourne at the Summerside Festival (2023). They played at the Openair Deisswil 2024 edition with a good reception from the public, as well as festivals in Ticino such as the Summer Festival with Sgaffy in 2021, along with numerous live shows in smaller venues (bars, pubs).
The band offers a 60-minute setlist mainly of their own material (+ 3 covers) taken from the album UPSDWN (2022) and from the singles released subsequently (2024/2025).
